JUSC PROFESSIONAL STAFF

Matty Smith

Matty has been with the J.S.C program for 10 years (1997 - 2007) having coached with the Urbandale Soccer club for the previous two years (1995 - 1996). He holds the USSF B coaching license and has a BA Honors Degree in Education.

He is the current Johnston High School Girls Varsity coach and was on the Iowa ODP coaching staff for a number of years. Matty has worked extensively on summer camps in Iowa and the Mid West having coached for Challenger Sports from 1994 - 1997 as a Camp Director.

John Sheridan

John Sheridan, aka Shedzy, brings 16 years of semi-professional playing and coaching experience to the JUSC. Through his substantial playing and coaching experience, Shedzy has developed a strong philosophy of positive teaching methods. His enthusiasm and work ethic serve as positive examples for our kids.

During his time as a staff member of English Professional Club Walsall F.C, Shedzy worked with the U13 boys in the club´s Center of Excellence. Shedzy was also was selected to work with the management team of Leamington F.C. and was instrumental in the introduction of an innovative development program for youth players.

Shedzy joined the Urbandale Soccer Club in August 2001, and has coached their teams for older girls over the past four years. During this time, he has built relationships with college coaches that have helped in the placement of many student athletes to college soccer programs. A staff member of the Iowa ODP program, Shedzy has been responsible for the program’s oldest girls’ teams for the past two years, and is currently head coach for the 1990 team. Shedzy holds the English F.A. first aid and coaching certificate, and has also obtained the USSF "B" License.

Paul O´Connor

Paul has been in the JSC program for just over a year having moved here from Minneapolis. He is a former professional player having been on the staff as a goalkeeper of former English Premier league club Leicester City. He holds the USSF B coaching license and the NSCAA Goalkeeper Level 1 Diploma.

Paul is an outstanding goalkeeping coach and has been on the Regional coaching staff since 2003. He has also worked extensively on camps and clinics throughout the region and was the Minnesota Thunder goalkeeper coach in the 2005 season.

Jeff Adamiak

Since joining the Johnston Soccer Club in the fall of 2003, Jeff has become known for his positive style and innovative approach with young players and has been instrumental in creating unique programs for children of all ages within the club.

Before coming to the JSC, Jeff was part of the professional staff at both the Iowa Soccer Club and the Iowa City Alliance Soccer Club. During that time he organized the successful ISC Spring Break Trip which provided high school-age players collegiate exposure while competing against top clubs throughout the Midwest, and launched the Soccer Genesis Program which provided a competitive soccer program for collegiate players during the off-season.

Known to the younger players as "Uncle Jeffrey", he holds a B.S. degree from the University of Iowa, along with the USSF "C" and "National Youth" Licenses. In addition to his present role as the Assistant Director of the JUSC Girls´ Program, Jeff is a member of the state coaching staff for the Iowa Olympic Development Program.
