Who is your favorite soccer team and favorite player? Manchester United &
George Best (showing my age; he is dead now but arguably the most naturally
talented player to grace the game) .
What do you enjoy most about coaching soccer? It is the second best
thing to playing and it allows an old player the chance to remain an integral
part of the game. Witnessing young players improve and achieve ambitions is very
rewarding.
If you were not coaching soccer, what would you be doing? Probably
trying to figure out what else I might enjoy as much; I fancy trying to be a
chef, author, surgeon and astronaut, but not in the same week!
Other than soccer, what is your favorite sport? I played semi
professional cricket during the soccer off season in Australia and continually
try to improve my golf game. I also enjoy watching American Football now that
after 12 years in Iowa I have a better understanding of the rules!!
Other than soccer, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
Playing golf, reading, experimenting in the kitchen, and my wife!
If you had 4 words to describe yourself, what would they be?
Windswept, worldly, passionate, methodical????
What is your favorite movie and your favorite character from that movie?
Finding Nemo; Nemo, of course!

What is your favorite TV show? A toss up between NCIS and
CSI-Miami; Gibbs and Horatio are big time!
What is your favorite musical artist? I am a lover of many kinds of
music but one particular act never fails to amuse; Mattie and Shedzy doing the
Scottish version of Kung Fu Fighting is definitely a “one hit wonder”.
If you had one day to spend anywhere, where would you go and what would you
be doing? It would be a busy day; breakfast at the Urbandale Café,
morning training at Old Trafford (Manchester United), a swim and snorkel on a
tropical Island, 18 holes at St. Andrews, a BBQ with family and friends, and a
nightcap while watching Mattie and Shedzy perform Karaoke.
What is your biggest pet peeve? People who drive slow in the
outside lane and the massive increase in volume when adverts are shown on
television.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be? A world where
all people could live in peace and harmony, without poverty and conflict.
If you could have dinner with 4 people, who would you invite, and what would
you be eating? My parents and siblings live in Australia, my daughter
in Tennessee, and my son is a Marine so my wife and I would need more than 4
place settings; we would barbecue steaks and Iowa chops!
What is the best piece of advice given to you? If you are going to
dream then dream BIG! “Think Bigger, Be Better, Aim Higher”.
