Bettering YOUR Game!
Rossco’s Tip of the Week

On wet days, absolutely do not wear pants during the game. They get soaked and they slow you down. Simples.

If your working as hard as you should be, your legs won’t get cold anyway…

So what’s Rossco ranting about this week?

Adjust to the elements! Last weekend was a wet one, fair enough, it happens! However, what is the deal with you players who get so caught up in what the weather is doing? I watched a number of teams start their games poorly this weekend because there were some players who couldn’t get over the fact that it was raining? C’MON! You have seriously got to be joking me!

Playing on a wet surface allows you to move the ball quickly around the field, your shots have a better chance of hitting the net and the opposition is more likely to make mistakes. So… in the future… if it’s raining, use it to your advantage and definitely don’t come to me with a wee sad look on your face complaining about it!

 What’s happening at JUSC?

Congratulations to the our Liverpool u13 boys who were successful in winning the West Des Moines invitational tournament, well done boys! Our u14 girls also made the final, and played some great soccer along the way.

Our teams also had a very successful Just For Girls tournament with two more teams winning it all. Congratulations to u11 Girls Thunder Blue and u12 Girls Blaze White- both teams held there nerve to win after both finals were decided on a penalty shoot out. All of teams represented themselves very well at the JFG tourney with the u13 Girls and u17 Girls also making it to the final! There is no doubt that the season has started well, with lots of teams turning in great performances, now let's keep the ball rolling!

Big shout out to the JUSC u13 Girls team who are avid readers of Rossco’s Rants! Schnail! Haha. And ladies, as promised… Here is the wonderful poem written by Abby Gorsche reminding us all that it is a funny old game that we play…

A Silly Soliloquy of Soccer
By: Abby Gorsche u/13 girls JUSC

JUSC ice was ready for their game
With the best coach of course, Ozzie White was his name
But this was not going to be an ordinary game
First the opponents didn't run, but instead they were walking
Then quite suddenly Gorsche stopped talking
Ozzie said losing would be quite all right
Then Jeff and the ref got in a huge fight
Birmingham was wearing polka-a-dot sox
And Stucky broke out in a million pox
Shedzy was wearing a baseball cap
Then Lehman laid down and took a nap
Matty decided to shave his brows
And Smithy got distracted by a herd of cows
Rossy got a really dark tan
Then Salmon went crazy, and was smacking everyone with a pan
Killian learned how to run without her hand in the air
And Tomo wouldn't stop fixing her hair
Woodsy started liking her nickname squeak
And Ozzie told Towers to shut her beak
Kalee's shoes blinded everybody
And Fungi started acting a little bit nutty
Breezy's hair changed from the original color red
And Taylor got knocked out on the sideline when the ball hit her head
Mallory ran into the goal because when running she couldn't stop
Then Matty and Tony said our game was a full porkchop
Rossco stopped ranting
And the parents started chanting
But in the chaos we still managed to win
Although we had bruises all over our shin
We were so happy that we could beam
So to celebrate we went over and shnailed the other team!

C’mon Gorsche, I’ll never stop ranting! Awesome poem!
If any other players have something original that they have created is related to JUSC send me an email at rossmoffat82@hotmail.com and we can see about getting it up on Rossco’s Rants!

 Check This Out...

And in the spirit of Gorsche’s poem, have a look at these guys enjoying the lighter side of the game…

But don’t celebrate too soon, especially on these wet days!!
