Bettering YOUR Game!
Rossco’s Tip of the Week
When through on goal, its not necessarily a case of shooting the ball has hard
as you can. The top goal scorers in the world are able to relax and pick their
spot in such situations. Sometimes all you need to do is pass the ball into the
goal! This is a skill that we often don’t see with younger players, practice it
at training and you will see how effective it can be.
Here is another of my favorite players, Paul Gascoigne, showing how its done:
Welcome!
"Here you will find lots of cool stuff to keep you entertained
and informed about what is going on at JUSC. This page will be updated
every week- so come back and visit soon."

So what’s Rossco ranting about this week?
THAT’S IT! I’M HAVING A RE-RANT! My fellow coaches and I believe it
is time for a recap of the rants we have had thus far. There has been
some improvement in many of the areas, and to those who have gotten on
board, fantastic job! However, there are still a few players who aren’t
quite joining in! C’mon get with the program people! Let’s have a wee
look at what I’ve been ranting about in recent weeks.
■
DON’T COME TO PRACTICE WITH FLAT SOCCER BALLS!
■
WATCH SOCCER ON TV!
■
KEEP WARM!
■
STOP WHACKING THE BALL INTO THE GOALS AT THE BEGINNING OF PRACTICE!
■
MISTAKES HAPPEN-STOP WORRYING!
Although “Rossco’s Rants” is designed to be fun, take these things on
board and you can help yourself become a better player. Not only that,
but you can help your coach help you become a better player. If you want
to refresh yourself on the reasons for these rants go and check out
previous “Rossco’s Rants” by clicking on the links in the archives
section.
Ok folks, here is this week's TV schedule. Undoubtedly, the pick of
the bunch this week is Liverpool v. Manchester United. Can the
passionate Anfield crowd push their team to a victory against high
flying Manchester United? Check it out!

What’s happening at JUSC?
Our JUSC teams (u15 and up) will
compete in the first weekend of State Cup this weekend. This is an exciting time
for these teams and I would like to wish all the players the best of luck. Get
out there and support JUSC! The games will take place at Cownie.
Additionally, flu season has definitely hit! Here are some ways to protect
yourself and your teammates:
■
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw
the tissue in the trash after you use it.
■
Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not
available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
■
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way. Try to
avoid close contact with sick people. If you are sick with flu-like illness,
CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours
after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other
necessities. (Your fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing
medicine.)
■
Keep away from others as much as possible to keep from making others
sick.
MUST- SEE VIDEO
Every week I will provide you with some footage of awesome players and fantastic
goals and soccer skills!
First off this week, have a look at the awesome Abby Wombach. An unstoppable
force of power and clever finishing in front of goal.
And do you know what? This is my page and I want to post my favorite goal of all
time! So there. This goal has a combination of timing, skill, awareness and
sublime finishing. Brilliant goal by a brilliant player, Dennis Bergkamp.
