So what’s Rossco ranting about this week?

PLAY IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS! It gets on my wick when I hear young players moan about being told to play in certain positions on the field. Soccer is a team game, and your coach is telling you to play in a certain position because of the qualities that you can bring to that role, be a team player and do what is asked. It’s also important that you understand all the positions on the field; what better way to gain an understanding than to play that position? Comprehending what other players are experiencing during a game is very valuable in helping you to become thoughtful and tactically aware soccer player. You all have many years ahead of you; you don’t know what position you’re finally going to end up playing.
 
When I was a 16-year-old I signed for Kilmarnock F.C as a goal scorer, a center forward. After my first year, I enjoyed two very successful years as a defensive center midfielder. At college I played attacking midfield, and for the Des Moines Menace I have played both defensively and offensively. Later on in your careers, you’ll be glad of the experiences you’ve had as a youth, and be able to step into various roles on the field.

Here is this weeks TV schedule and the one to catch this week is the London derby between Aresenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Both teams have made an impressive start to the season and you can expect some quality soccer from these two teams who like to move the ball around quickly. Its on ESPN2, so no excuses!
