So what’s Rossco ranting about this week?

STOP WHACKING THE BALLS INTO THE GOALS AT THE BEGINNING OF PRACTICE! This is a rant I’ve been looking forward to, why on earth do you players feel the need to stand in front of the goal and whack the ball into the goals while you are waiting for practice to start? What a great opportunity to get your ball out and work on some ball skills or passing, but instead you seem to think that whacking the ball at the goal is a good idea. Outside of it doing very little to help your game, you shouldn’t really be hitting the ball that hard without a proper warm-up anyway. Additionally, there are the inevitable tears when someone that isn’t paying attention takes one on the side of the head! Impress your coaches by doing something more productive; maybe a little 5 v 2, or some juggling even.

This week is a little different in terms of soccer on TV. Club teams are not playing because it is an international week; this means that the best players from the club teams are playing for their country on World Cup qualifying games. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like ESPN have the rights to any of the international games. Personally, I like to watch Spain because they play a great brand of soccer; they are the masters of the passing game.
