Bettering YOUR Game!
Rossco’s Tip of the Week

Use the winter season to your advantage! Get out there, get on the ball and express yourself, playing indoor can be a blast. Be sure to get plenty of touches on the ball and try things out there. Practice new moves and just enjoy it; there is less pressure from coaches and parents so take a leaf out of the Brazilians book and play with a smile on your face!

What about this? Wow.

So what’s Rossco ranting about this week?

Alright, the end of the season is here.
So we can all just forget about soccer for a few months right? WRONG! Ok, by all means take a break, but don’t wait until the spring until you kick a ball again; if you wait that long then you’ll come back rustier than my old Dodge Avenger (RIP). Anyway, use the winter to play soccer in a less structured environment, have fun and hone your skills. Indoor soccer is an excellent way to improve your skill and ability; you can improve your first touch, soccer coordination and game awareness just by playing.

Some of the world’s most skillful players: Ronaldinho, Robinho and Ronaldo all claim that indoor soccer is where they perfected their craft.

 What’s happening at JUSC?

Last weekend we took some of our JUSC girls teams to Kansas City, it was a lot of fun. All the teams did a great job. It was a pleasure to watch the u11s and u12s play with such skill, thought and enthusiasm, they certainly gave a very good account of themselves. The future at JUSC looks bright! Well done ladies!
I would also like to give a shout out to the rickety old coaches who, in an exhibition of sublime soccer, picked apart the u17 boys in our first annual “Coaches Game”, winning 3-2 in clinical fashion. Wise heads will always overcome young enthusiam. Merely days later, an even older and ricketier coaches team gave the u14 boys a soccer lesson, the boys looked like they were chasing shadows as the old coaches moved the ball around with grace and poise.

Better luck next year boys!

Talk about honing your skills indoor? Have a look at this guy, Falcao, regarded as the best indoor player in the world. To put it in terms of JUSC’s u12 boy’s team I think it would be fair to say that this guy is “sick” and that he totally “owns” the defenders.

This is a pretty cool video too; in this one Brazilian superstar Robinho meets Falcao and the two play in a little indoor game together. You have to hand it to the Brazilians, they play the game the way it should be, with skill, passion and rhythm. They play with a smile on their face, “joga bonito”, which in Portuguese means “play beautiful”!
