Rossco’s Tip of the Week
Here is Heather Mitts of the U.S. women’s national team with some advice on
using the outside of the foot to pass. This is a skill I love to utilize as a
player because it can help you to pass quickly and with disguise. It also helps
to find angles and passing windows that may not be available using the inside of
your foot. Try to practice this skill at your next training session!

So what’s Rossco ranting about this week?
LET’S PUSH THROUGH TOGETHER! As we reach the conclusion of another
excellent season at JUSC it is important that we finish strongly. With
the weather getting cold, and players starting to get soccered out, it
takes a bit of spirit and positive attitude to finish strongly. So here
is my challenge to you- bring a little extra energy and positively to
your final practice sessions and help your team to end the season on a
high! Leave your coach with a great last impression both individually
and as a team! Pretty soon it’ll be winter and you’ll be missing soccer,
so make the most of what is left.
Here is this week’s TV schedule; there are two great games on ESPN2 this
week! However, there is no doubt that the blockbuster game that
shouldn’t be missed is the battle between Chelsea and Manchester United!
Can’t wait for that one!

What’s happening at JUSC?
Congratulations to JUSC’s
latest state champions, the U16 boys! With a great work ethic, and desire to
develop as a players, this group has gone from strength to strength this season,
well done lads!
Its also time for another coach look-alike, Shedzy is NOT going to be happy with
me! What do you think? Is he more Paul Shaffer, band leader on Letterman or
George Dawes, hilarious British comedian?

Every week I will provide you with some footage of awesome players and fantastic
goals and soccer skills!
Since I am probably in trouble with Shedzy after those look-alikes, I think it
is my best interests to include some videos that will make him happy…
The Champions League final of 2005 between Liverpool and AC Milan, a fine
example of the ecstasy and agony that the game can produce, one of the best
games I have ever watched! Enjoy Shedzy!
And here is one of the heroes of that final, Steven Gerard showing why he is,
and always will be, a Liverpool legend. In my opinion, Stevie G is the best all
round footballer in the world. Born and raised in Liverpool, he is a true
captain, the man does it all: pass, dribble, tackle, attack, defend and score.
Steven Gerard is a brilliant example to all you youngsters who love playing the
game.
