Rossco’s Tip of the Week
Notice how these kids approach use the tips mentioned earlier in my rant- they
take a preparation touch out of their feet, approach the ball at an angle (not
straight on), have a look up and deliver into a dangerous area.

So what’s Rossco ranting about this week?
After another weekend of watching cross after cross float harmlessly
into the opposition goalkeeper’s arms or behind the goals I’ve decided
it is time to have a rant about it! What is the point in getting into
dangerous wide areas if you can’t deliver a dangerous ball into the box
when you get there!? Here are some points to get that ball delivered
with some accuracy:

Good preparation touch out of your feet.
■
Approach the ball at an angle (not still facing the end line!).
■
Get your hips and shoulders facing the way you want to play the ball.
With these three simple steps you can avoid those harmless floating
crosses that GK’s love! It’s an easy fix, so fix it!
What’s happening at JUSC, JSC & USC?
Congratulations to the U16 Boys United and U17 Boys Barcelona who will both
play in the State Cup final this Saturday October 30th. The u17 final is at
10am while the u16s is at 3pm. The games take place in Ankeny- come out and
support our lads!
Congratulations to USC Academy coach, Doug Sawyer who was inducted into the
athletic Hall of Fame at North Central College! Here is a link to the story

Love him or hate him, there is no doubt that David Backham knows how to
cross a ball. Notice how he delivers the ball with pace into areas between the
goalkeeper and defenders, it’s so hard to defend against, and a dream for the
strikers!
The crazy thing about Beckham’s ability
is that he can deliver the ball with so much pace and bend that he can cross it
from just about anywhere? Most players wouldn’t even think about trying to cross
it from this far out! Brilliant!
And, just for fun, I laugh every time I
watch this one, Jimmy Bullard is hilarious.
Coach’s Favorite
This week’s featured coach is somebody else who enjoys a good rant,
Shedzy!
In Liverpool they call him “God”, I’ll let Shedzy introduce you in his
own words:
“Attached is a two minute video of the best player I have ever seen
live....Robbie Fowler! His third goal in the compilation is my favorite
in particular, as I was at that game and was the best individual
performance from a player I had ever seen......absolutely sensational!”
