JUSC & COVID-19 Update #2
JUSC Families, As noted in our update this past Friday, we are closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 (also known as Coronavirus) situation. A lot has happened over the weekend that affect our plans for the spring season. Yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated their guidance and are now recommending gatherings of 50 people or more (previously 250) be canceled or postponed. Additionally, last night, Governor Kim Reynolds, in consultation with the Iowa Department of Public Health and CDC, is recommending that schools close for four weeks due to the occurrence of community spread in Iowa. In response to this, we are taking the following actions:
Canceling the Sporting Iowa Spring Break camp (registered players already notified)
Postponing the All Parent Coaches Meeting Clinics, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2020, until a later date to be determined.
Restricting organized practice sessions until the week of April 19, 2020 (we will re-evaluate as new information is available, but plan on it being no earlier than this date)
While league and sanctioned tournaments are suspended until April 15th, we anticipate this date will be pushed back. We truly appreciate your continued patience and understanding. More information will be provided in the coming days.
