JUSC & COVID-19 Update #3
Updated: Apr 16, 2020
JUSC Families, We hope this message finds you safe and healthy. As you are well aware, the coronavirus pandemic and State and National response to it is very fluid. In light of the extension of federal social distancing guidelines to April 30th, we expect the start of the spring season to be further delayed. We have a contingency plan in place, and believe we can still play our season even if we are delayed until May 10th. We will provide schedules and additional information once a firm start date has been established. If the start date is pushed later than May 10th, we will need to evaluate the viability of the season, and explore our available options. In the meantime, while we wait to take the fields, we wanted to share information about the TopTekkers app that will be available to our membership and an update on the Spring Coach Meetings.
As a club, we made the decision to invest in TopTekkers this spring. TopTekkers is a learning platform for players aged 5 - 14. Players can watch technique videos, try the challenges, unlock trophies and view training sent to them via the TopTekkers app. It will give players something to do on their own, provide a way for kids to remain physically active and connected to the game, and, hopefully, will help them maintain some sense of normalcy during this unprecedented time. Players will have access to this app through the end of July. Below are introduction videos to the app:
As part of the rollout to our membership this week, an onboarding email will be sent to the primary contact on your child's account with the club. Please be sure to check spam folders. Follow the instructions provided in that email to complete your parent account and your child's account. The TopTekker app is available at Google Play and the Apple Apps Store.
Once you have installed the app and have created your child's account, weekly challenges and training recommendations will be sent out by the Sporting Iowa coaches.
Spring Coaches Meeting
To all volunteer coaches, we are sincerely grateful for you volunteering your time to coach our youth this spring. We will obviously need to implement our preseason coach meeting differently. Our current plan is to conduct the meeting via a webinar, and have a pick up location for coach packets. You will be contacted in the coming days with more specific information on the date, time, and links to access the webinar for each age group.
On behalf of myself and the Board of Directors, we truly appreciate your continued patience and understanding.
