JUSC COVID-19 Update #5: Summer Season & Credits/Refunds
JUSC Families, We hope this email finds you well. The purpose of this email is to describe the program we intend to offer this summer to players in lieu of the spring season, and discuss credit/refunds that will be offered. I apologize for the length, but there is a lot of information to share.
Survey of Interest & Refund/Credit
A survey will be sent to the primary email associated with your player's account in the next couple of days. If you have multiple children playing, you will need to complete the survey once for each child. Please do not respond directly to this email. On the survey, you can express your interest in participating in the summer season. Unfortunately, the summer season does not include our 4U players. Our 4U players and those NOT interested in participating this summer will be provided a full refund or credit for registration fees paid this spring. On the survey, you may indicate whether you prefer a credit to apply to next fall fees or a refund. For those interested in participating in the summer season, we will provide a partial refund or credit (see below for more details), you will be able to specify which you prefer on the survey. While we sincerely hope to implement the summer season, the coronavirus pandemic has been very fluid. Any further delay resulting from an extension of the public health emergency declaration will result in the cancelation of the summer season. If that happens, players who indicated interest will be provided a full refund or credit for the fall season. If you do not respond to the survey by Friday, May 1, 2020, we will assume your player will participate in the summer season, and we will provide a partial credit towards fall registration.
If you are willing and able, please consider donating part or all of your credit or refund to JUSC or the Karen Coaldrake Financial Assistance Fund. Although we were unable to have a spring season, we still do incur costs as a club. We also are anticipating an increased need for financial assistance next year due to the current economic climate. You will be able to indicate donations on the survey. Any support is greatly appreciated.
All teams will play in six games over three weekends of play. 5U-8U teams will play other JUSC teams similar to other seasons, and 9U-15U teams will play teams from Iowa Rush, Vision Soccer Academy (VSA) and West Des Moines Soccer Club (WDMSC). Additionally, Academy teams will also play two games as part of the Sporting Iowa Premier Games, for a total of eight games. The complexes will be available for training between June 1 and June 26 for recreational teams and June 1 and July 10 for academy teams. Age groups will be assigned training times by the club. Game Format
5U-8U games will be played in the same format as a normal season. However, 13U-15U will be small sided. Game Weekends
June 6-7, 2020 (First Weekend)
June 13-14, 2020 (Second Weekend)
June 20-21, 2020 (Third Weekend)
June 27-28, 2020 (Make Up Games)
July 11-12, 2020 (Premier Games - Academy Only)
5U-8U games will be played Saturday morning between 9:00 AM and noon, and Sunday afternoon starting at 1:00 PM. Each team will play one game per day. Older teams (9U & up) will be based on a schedule developed in partnership with other participating clubs. Detailed schedules shall be provided no later than Friday, May 22, 2020. Game Locations
Games will be played at the following complexes:
Urbandale Soccer Complex (All age groups)
Johnston Soccer Complex (All age groups)
Sporting Iowa Fieldhouse (5U-8U only)
Raccoon River Soccer Fields (9U-15U only)
Timberline Complex (9U-15U only)
Prairie Ridge Sports Complex (9U-15U only)
9U-15U will have a combination of home and away games. Adjusted Fees As the summer season is condensed, we will provide a partial refund or credit equal to the difference between the amount paid for spring registration and the summer fee noted below. If you select a credit, it will be applied to fall registration fees. You may also choose to donate the amount of your refund or credit to JUSC or the Karen Coaldrake Financial Assistance Fund.
Credit and refunds will be provided to those interested in participating once we know that we can deliver the program. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we truly appreciate your continued patience and understanding.
