JUSC
Volunteers

Volunteers are important to JUSC, and are necessary to deliver programs to the children in our community. If you are interested in volunteering, we could use your help - especially with coaching developmental, recreational and academy teams. Below you can find the general requirements to be a volunteer, descriptions for available volunteer positions, and instructions on how to register to volunteer.

General Qualifications

In Good Standing with JUSC

Any volunteer must be in good standing with JUSC. An individual is in good standing where they have NOT:

  • Been removed from a previously held position

  • Been previously found to be in violation of governing policies or procedures

  • Lost membership rights with the club

No Disqualifying Convictions

In order to register to volunteer, you will be required to complete a background application as part of the registration process (required every two years). Any disqualifying conviction will prevent an individual from serving in a volunteer capacity with the JUSC.

Disqualifying convictions include the following:

  • All sex offenses regardless of the amount of time since the offense

  • All felony offenses in the past fifteen years

  • All misdemeanor violence offenses within the past seven years

  • All misdemeanor drug and alcohol offenses within the past five years or multiple offenses within the past seven years

  • Any other misdemeanor within the past five years that would be considered a potential danger to children or is directly related to the volunteer functions of the individual

Does Not Hold a Competing Position

An individual actively serving in a volunteer or paid capacity with another soccer club other than the JUSC or Sporting Iowa is not eligible to serve as a volunteer for JUSC.

Be SafeSport Trained

SafeSport Core and Refresher Training - the online training covers the following subjects: sexual abuse, hazing, bullying, emotional misconduct, physical misconduct, harassment (non-sexual) as well as reporting obligations. It is required by the federal SafeSport Act. Reminders with more information will be sent after you have registered as a volunteer.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

The following documents outline the duties and responsibilities, time commitment, qualifications, and expectations associated with our volunteer positions.

Register as a Volunteer

To register as a volunteer, you must complete the step called "Register Volunteer" in our secure sports management system, Demosphere, as part of your child's registration. Please click the "register here" button below to access the system. If you have previously participated in JUSC programs, you may sign in with your existing account. If you do not have an existing account, you may create a new account from the login page, or login using your Google or Facebook accounts.

Please note, we will automatically assign volunteer team coaches to team rosters in the spring where their team plays in both seasons (e.g., 5U-14U) unless we are informed the individual is not able to coach.
